Mrs. Lillian Spillman Groce, of Old U.S. 421, Yadkinville, passed away Saturday, July 31, 2010, at Willowbrook Healthcare. She was 95.

She was born June 3, 1915 in Yadkin County to the late Thomas Sebon “Babe” and Amanda Hutchens Spillman.

She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and loved cooking, baking and taking care of her family. Mrs Groce was a faithful, active, life member of Forbush Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Paul Winfield Groce; four sisters, Fannie Wooten, Rosa Boyles, Eva Carter, Dovie Davis; four brothers, Sampson, John, Shelton, and Dewey Spillman.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Joan and Phillip Wooten of Yadkinville; grandson Kelly Wooten of Yadkinville; two granddaughters, Kristen and Kelsi Wooten; and several nieces and nephews.

The family received friends Monday at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville.

Her funeral service was held Tuesday, Aug. 3, 2010, at Forbush Baptist Church by Dr. Ray Davis, Rev. Charles Jones and Rev. Warren Kerr. Burial followed in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to either the Children’s Department of Forbush Baptist Church or to the Forbush Baptist Church Cemetery Fund Endowment I, 3917 Old US 421 Highway East, Yadkinville, NC 27055.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the nurses and staff of Willowbrook Health Care, including Darlene Webb and Margaret Spillman, for all the loving care given to Mrs. Groce.
