Today, Saturday, June 19, the Yadkinville Mayor Hubert Gregory came down to see us after our neighbors and us called and left messages about the undrinkable water in our town.
He told us that there was nothing wrong with the water.
We all disagree. Yesterday, when I had some of the water to drink it made me sick. My neighbor washed her clothes and they came out of the washer stinking like this nasty water smells.
The mayor told me that I could stop drinking the water and start drinking beer.
I told him that I didn't drink, but he thought that was funny.
Hubert Gregory is not taking this serious and said that its all in our heads, including the owners of the restaurants at the Yadkin Plaza that are buying water and bottled soda.
Do you have any suggestions on what we can do and the next step we can take to get someone to take this issue seriously.
Yadkinville Town Hall says that drinking the water won't hurt us but how do they know that drinking water from a reservoir with algae growing won't make all of us sick? When I asked the mayor what could he do about getting us some water to drink, he said that he had a creek behind his house, not funny and we have a creek behind ours and we are not going to get our water from there. There is a cow pasture behind our house in the town limits of Yadkinville and the cows go in that creek.
Thats a whole different story but we would be so grateful to get some feedback on what to do about getting some water.
I did tell Hubert that I didn't think that we should have to pay for this water and that the town should provide us with some drinking water.
He said he couldn't do anything and drove away.
Help.
