MOCKSVILLE– Mrs. Kathleen Peele Cranfill Fleming, 85, passed away Monday, March 22, 2010.

She was born May 23, 1924 in Surry County to the late Byrd and Jennie Peele.

She was the valedictorian of her graduating class of 1942 from Boonville High School.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Luther Vernon Cranfill; second husband, Stanley Earl Fleming; great-great-grandson, William Robert Manning; and sisters, Ola Peele Parker and Lula Peele Myers.

Surviving are her children, Frances (John) O’Neal, Lawrence Cranfill, Donald (Helen) Cranfill and Retha (Curtis) Gaither; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; sisters, Irene Lowery and Pauline (John) Seaford; and brother, Ed (Virginia) Peele.

Her funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, March 25 by the Rev. Greg McEwen and the Rev. Ricky Adkins.

Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

She will lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service.

The family will receive friends after the service.
