She was born July 16, 1964 in Yadkin County to Tommy and Jewel Hamby Reece.
Mrs. Reece-O’Dell was an artist who attended Queens College in Charlotte, the Art Institute in Atlanta, Ga., and was currently attending Surry Community College.
She was a member of Charity Baptist Church, was active with the Women’s Medical Auxiliary of Cleveland County, volunteered with the American Heart Association and with Gaston Day School.
She was owner and operator of Magpie Boutique in Gastonia for several years.
Mrs. Reece-O’Dell was a full of life and enjoyed spending time and laughing with her son and family.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Joe and Bessie Reece of Boonville and by Arvis and Texie Hamby of Wilkesboro. Surviving are her beloved son, whom she loved dearly, Kenneth Patrick Reece-O’Dell of Gastonia; her loving parents, Tommy and Jewel Reece of Boonville; sisters, Crystal Reece Myers of Boonville and Ginger Lee Reece (Kevin)Lewis of Hays; her former husband and father of her son, Kevin O’Dell of Gastonia; special friends, Lisa Chamberlain, Kathy Alter and Hope Elledge; nephews, Aslan Daniel Lewis and Levis Thomas Myers; a special niece, Julie LeAnn Lewis; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
The family received friends Sunday, March 14 at Boonville Baptist Church.
Her funeral service followed the visitation in the sanctuary of the church with the Rev. Ken Boaz officiating.
Burial followed in the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Education Trust for her son, Kenneth Reece-O’Dell, c/o First Citizens Bank, Boonville, NC 27011.
