AST BEND- Mrs. Bonnie Mae Carter Brown, age 68, of Falcon Road, was called home on Monday, Feb. 8, 2010 by her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, where she has been reunited with her daddy.

She was born Oct. 5, 1941 in Yadkin County to Ralph Monroe and Edith Davis Carter.

Bonnie was a faithful, life-long member of Mount Carmel Friends Meeting, where she served for many years as the church treasurer.

She was a loving neighbor to everyone in the community.

She worked at R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company as the lead unit clerk until her first child was born.

She then worked for the Yadkin County School System, as a bus driver and substitute teacher, and especially enjoyed the nine years she worked with the A.D.A.P. Program in Boonville.

She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker for her family.

She enjoyed cooking, providing for each of them, and occasionally taking breaks to out-fish her husband.

Bonnie was preceded in death by her father and by an infant sister, Nora Jan Carter.

Surviving are her beloved husband of 50 years and eight months, James L. “Jimmy” Brown of the home; her three children, Jill (Chuck) Crews of East Bend, Jason (Angie) Brown of Elkin and Jan (Chris) Vogts of East Bend; eight grandchildren, Jacob and Samuel Crews, Isaac Carter, Elijah, AnaJayde and RachelJordyn Brown and Taran and Eily Vogts; her mother, Edith Davis Carter of East Bend; sisters, Abigail (Howard) Williams of East Bend, Wilda (Bobby) Lucas of Garner and Dena (Stanley) Todd of Yadkinville; and all the nieces, nephews, and extended family members, whom she especially loved.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. today, Feb. 11 at Gentry Family Funeral Service in Yadkinville.

A graveside service will be 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 12 at Mount Carmel Friends Meeting Cemetery by the Rev. Jeff Farmer, the Rev. Archie Creed and the Rev. Chris Vogts.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the nurses and staff of the Ninth Floor Oncology Department of Forsyth Medical Center for all the loving care given to Bonnie during her stay.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in memory of Bonnie Brown to Mount Carmel Friends Meeting, Mount Carmel Church Road, East Bend, NC 27018. Online condolences may be made to www.gentryfuneralservice.com.
