Mr. Burrell U. Snider, age 80, of Shiptontown Road. Lexington, died Sunday, Jan. 18, 2009 at his residence.

A funeral service was held on Tuesday, Jan. 20 at Briggs Funeral Home Memorial Chapel in Denton, conducted by the Rev. Mike Fritts and the Rev. Charles Dickens.

Interment followed at Summerville Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mr. Snider was born Jan. 19, 1928 in Randolph County to Clyde C. Snider and Hazel Latham Snider.

He was of Baptist faith and was a retired, self-employed, sawmill operator.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.

He was preceded in death by a son, Maynard Snider in 1986; and by a brother-in-law, Leon Cook.

Mr. Snider is survived by his wife, Joyce Bean Snider of the home; a son, Kenneth Snider and wife Pat of Yadkinville; daughters, Lavae Hicks and husband Ricky of Boonville, and Phyliss Sissy Snider Kaperton of East Bend; brothers, Richard Snider and wife Judy of Denton, and Raeford Snider and wife Jean of Asheboro; sisters, Willia Dean Cagle and husband Paul, Eddith Gallimore and husband Ray, and Nancy Skeen and husband Donald, all of Denton, and Susan Cook of Fort Mill, S.C.; grandchildren, Jamie, Tracy, Terri, Wendy, Ricky Jr., Jennifer, Larissa, and Sebastin; and 15 great-grandchildren.

The family saw friends on Monday, Jan. 19 at Briggs Funeral Home in Denton and other times at the residence.
