It's almost here.
With the season beginning just in just over a month, the 2010 schedules are set, and will bring heavy competition to the area teams. Several area teams finished with winning records last season, and have their eyes set towards the 2010 season.

Forbush is on the rebound in the 2010 season after a disappointing '09 season. The Falcons are back with a new coach Chris Johnson, and a new mentality with a will to win. Forbush won their first game of the season in '09, but fell to the rest of the schedule. The young Falcons will be returning to the gridiron hungry for a winning season, and will be looking for that winning record this fall. The Falcons should feel confident, once again beginning their season against North Surry.

Starmount suffered two early losses last year to Mount Airy and East Surry, but rebounded to finish the season 10-3, only to lose to Lexington in the state playoffs. All-State selection Jake Barr will return as a senior this year and will look to carry the team even further into the state playoffs this season. Barr completed 35 of 96 passes for 717 yards and 5 TDs.
With the season looming just around the corner, the 2010 North Carolina Prep Football Yearbooks are on sale at the Yadkin Valley General Store in Elkin. The book gives statistics on the teams throughout state. The books are $20 and can be ordered by mail or by contacting Deana King at gatarams@yahoo.com.
